gem. Nestled in between Kallista-Emerald
Road & Grantulla Road, this is a climb which takes you through the beauty
and serenity that the Dandenong Ranges has to offer.
Please note that like
all gravel roads, the condition of the road can be effected by weather
conditions, and damage caused by vehicles.
Expect the unexpected.
The start of the climb is at the intersection of
Kallista-Emerald Road & William Road.
The first part of this climb is through a residential street, but it is easy to mistake this for a forest, as a number of the houses have trees or hedges as their front fences.
The climb winds its way left for the first 500 metres.
The road straightens up over the next 400 metres, and you
leave the houses behind and enter the forest.
As you pass Portman Road, you can look down and see that it
would make a mighty climb. The road
bends to your right, and the next section is easily the best part of the
climb. You are surrounded by a sea of
trees, and can see a sign up ahead warning of a hairpin.
All great climbs have a hairpin and this is no
exception. This marks the steepest point
of the climb, and you know that you’re well on your way to knocking off this
climb.
The road heads straight for approximately 50 metres before
you hit a sharp left hand bend.
The last 700 metres gently winds its way up till you reach the intersection at Grantulla Road.

This last part is residential, so keep your eye out for any
cars.
